July 4, 2010
Our town celebrated July fourth starting Friday night with a KIDDEE parade. There several dozen youngsters who rode bicycles, scooters, walked holding balloons, a pony pulling a cart driven by a couple of kids, a man pulling a baby in a wagon.
Then Saturday morning the parade started at ten a.m. that consisted of politicians, the American Legion float with the world war two vets riding. Many fire trucks, tractors, old autos, politicians handing out tracts, even a man leading his geese dressed up with colorful ribbons around their necks. Of course the parade was led by a police car and following him was the American legion contingent carrying the US flags.
Following the parade there was food and craft stands in the park. The program consisted of the US army band playing for an hour followed by a talent show. At night there was a fireworks display to cap off the day.
I led the Kiddee parade on my scooter and also rode with the WW2 vets.
