It's been a busy month with the school year wrapping up (I can't believe Megan will be a senior next year!), out of state family here for a visit, Fathers' Day, getting Megan ready to head to Australia, and of course....enjoying our granddaughter, Sora!

No garden for us this year.  Mom and John are still using the garden patch even though they are living in John's house up on the ridge for the summer (or for as long as John can talk Mom into staying up there).  They were on vacation for most of May so got a late start on planting and their garden seems a good bit behind the others I see.  There has been a lot of rain this month, too, so they are having a time of it battling weeds.  Half the time, it's just too wet to get into the garden.  All we have this year is three potted tomato plants: a Golden Boy, a yellow pear, and a patio.  All three have small tomatoes on them.

Tim's sister, from Alabama, was up earlier in the month along with her three kids, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter.  They didn't stay with us, but there was something going on with the family nearly every day and Megan stayed with them at another sister's so she could spend lots of time with her cousin, Jesse, who is just a month older than her.  The family had a birthday party, a baby shower and a graduation party during the week they were here!

We'd hoped to get a lot of work done around the place while Tim's been on vacation the last two weeks, but the weather didn't cooperate much with that and when it was nice we often had plans or Tim just didn't feel well.  He did see the doctor while he was off.  He's taking meds for high blood pressure and high cholesterol now.  He still has to see a G.U. for the pain in his groin and they want him to have a colonoscopy just because of his age and because his dad died of colon/rectal cancer and a couple of his siblings have already had problems with polyps.

Megan leaves this Saturday, July 4, for Australia.  It seems like we've been planning, fundraising, and getting ready for forever.  I can't believe it's finally here.  She's a lot more excited about it than she used to be so I'm thinking she'll take advantage of all the opportunities and enjoy herself....rather than worrying about her boyfriend like we'd worried.  She'll be gone for three weeks.  It'll be really quiet around here with Tim heading back to work later this week.

Sora was six months old on the 26th.  She weighs about 18 pounds.  She's such a bright, happy little thing.  She is sitting up on her own, starting to crawl, and even trying to pull herself up on her feet.  She doesn't seem to be afraid of much....Grandpa took her for her first ride on the John Deere and she went into the pool with no fuss.  She definitely has her grandparents wrapped around her little finger.  We are hoping the kids continue to think about moving back this way at some point.  We never thought we'd see Ashlei want to leave the city and after all the feuding last summer I NEVER thought she'd want to be around us much, but on her list of pros and cons for moving here, the number one pro is that we'd be a better influence on Sora.  Her family has had even more not so good things going on in the past couple of months.  I think it finally opened her eyes.

That's about all that's new here.
