The snow stayed out in Buffalo and we are in the center of the State. If you draw a line from the southern end of Owasco Lake to the southern end of Skaneatalas Lake, you will travel right over the top of our mountain. We live next to Bear Swamp Recreation Area here in the beautiful Fingerlakes region of NY.

I started butchering the chickens today. They will be this winters supply of roasters, chicken pot pies and chicken soup. Also allows us to stop using two of the chicken coups, so they can be sterilized by the freezing weather and ready for next years chicks.

We have two goats to butcher and put into canning jars and then we will be ready for whatever the hunting season drops on us.

Only three farm markets left, two in Moravia and one in Locke. My farm truck blew the seal on the rear end yesterday. No fun there.

Just helped my parents celebrate their 59th wedding anniversary and Mom's 78th birthday. Now I must settle down and finish the canning, drying and freezing for the winter months. Then I will drag out the snowshoes and oil them up. Get the skis ready and hope for some white stuff to play in.

Gardens and beds are being turned over and ready for next season. New plastic on the greenhouse. Brussel Sprouts still holding out, they refuse to freeze, so we will continue to harvest and sell. Potatoes are dug and the cabbage, onions and garlic are all dried and ready to eat. Yummy!!

New garlic beds planted for next season and winter wheat is up about 4". I'm ready to start baking bread indoors instead of outside.

Our house didn't make it this year, but we'll get a better start next Spring. May still get the cellar in this fall, but its getting chancy and with the truck breaking down, money might get a little tight. Oh well, it God's time, not mine. We live with that motto here at Fruitful Acres. No other way to live.

Teaching Sunday School to Kindergarten and first graders this year. They are an absolute riot. Never ask a 5 year old if they know who Jesus is....They never stop trying to explain and use up the whole hour with their thoughts and some of those thoughts are really something..
