The Gibberish Emails by Nita Holstine 05-30-03 Someone started sending out emails saying they had found a way to get receivers of their bulk spam emails to open them. Their theory was to put gibberish like xyzxyz in the subject line and usually in the who it's from line as well. Sure, I opened one the very first time. But that became the key to knowing if it was an important message or not. Did they pay to learn the stupid notion? Probably. So what if I open an email before I delete it. It doesn't mean a sale for the sender. They get no profit from it at all. Our system of free email messages has just about run its course. It seems now that the only way to stop the senders of such vast numbers of unwanted emails is to call for a governing system to collect a fee for every message sent. Sad but true. I will get to count my many as a business expense. We pay our taxes and do everything by the book. We enjoy running a business that could stand an IRS audit. I didn't even have to contact our legal advisor with the SCORE office with questions this year at tax time. These unknown and unwanted senders of their garbage provide you a link to "unsubscribe" or to no longer get their messages. Oh ha, ha. You didn't subscribe in the first place. If they bought a list, they were lied to and use that excuse to get away with sending out their stupid message to millions and millions. They send not just one a week or a day but more like 5 times an hour. Some senders obviously put a lot of time and work into their presentation but don't they realize that it's really no different than the 4 dozen others that are trying to promote the same items. Get real. Quit believing everything you read; "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is." Make $2,000 a week stuffing envelopes. Oh sure, in theory written down on paper, it might be shown. But it won't happen. When you do is to do what they did and run an ad and get people to send you money for you to tell them to do what you just did. Send you money. It won't work any more than the other pyramid schemes. The originator and a few others might make a bit but it is a house of cards and it will fall. And you will be the one out some money and thinking you're just fixing to get yours. Well you already have received all you are going to get. I am now getting about 400 unwanted messages every day. They all have been to Commission Junction and are assured that they will be making money from them or eBay which ever comes first. When they don't start making lots of money, they turn to casinos and porn. I watched a television program the other day where a fellow was showing an interviewer how they used airbrush technology to make a girl or boy look to be about 8 just to entice the worst of the offending thrill seekers. This garbage is sent to any and all email addresses they can get on their list. That includes your children and grandchildren. You would censor anything that came for them in the postal mail, do so with any and all emails as well. Some people will open offending messages with the intent of making them stop. Well, that won't work. It just puts you on an active address listing. Which is sold out for even more money. If you follow through, you will find that the porn will have come from somewhere like New Zealand where the very worst offenders are protected and promoted. In the USA, we don't allow the porn shops to advertise on the school yards, only in areas away from any schools. They they must be of minimum age to enter and even look much less purchase. Let's get real. Oh yes, if someone offers to sell you an acre on the moon for $29.95, why would you think they have the rights to sell the moon? Maybe they just think you are stupid enough to send them $29.95. If someone comes up with a better method than charging everyone for every email, the world would like to know what it would be.
