When you need ideas to keep the kids busy and interested, these are excellent places to look. No child should be allowed to use a computer unsupervised. Always know what they are seeing on the machine! Most sites are designed to give ideas to the parent or teacher needing appealing new projects. The American Library Association has put together a collection of child friendly websites. This page is compiled by librarians to give child safe sites the attention they need. Find a wide assortment of topics and age groups. Most excellent website and a doorway to many others. The Best Kids Booksite and this page is for earth day crafts. There are plenty of advertisements and flashing banners but it is a great site. From this page, you can access all the holidays and take your choice of projects. NASA, shuttle space flight and not just for kids. Lots of facts and schedules and so many photos, videos and audios to browse through. It is a government site so there are no ads or warnings from me. This site was at the beginning of this list for the address of a print out coloring page of a pilgrim. There are so many different crafts and child related interests. Check out the cute baby pictures. This site is mainly a lot of links to most interesting sounding hobbies, crafts and even gifts for kids to make and give. This site is geared directly for the teacher and specific projects. The award maker is very nice with some choices the child will really like. Need ideas for something to do with the youngsters? This is an excellent site with a craft exchange! Warning: Lots and lots of pop-ups that don't work right and will get in the way until you click on the X in the top right corner. If you try to move away from the, they will go to your task bar. Project ideas for children preschool and up. Lots and lots of very good ideas! Since I first visited this site, they have added demands for money to support their website. Ignore them and you can still access all the crafts and directions for making them. School Express has a store but they have many things free! They are aimed at teachers but that is what a parent does, teach. ZOOS AND ANIMAL LIFE: This site is the Bat Conservation International. Learn a lot about bats for free but to join is $40 per year and they have many items for sale. I enjoy getting their free email newsletter. The Elephant Sanctuary site! When I first tried the live cam, there were no elephants around but later, I got to watch as three crossed the area! Most Cool! The Tiger Information Center. You could learn a lot at this site. It is called the Save the Tiger Fund site now. Lots of information about the endangered tigers. This site is the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, Washington. Very nice. I just signed up for the Cyber Zoo News! With so much good info, it would best be used by someone living in the area who could actually visit the zoo but years later, I still get and enjoy their free newsletter. This site is the Alaska, Department of Fish and Game, Wildlife Conservation. They provide a lot of information about the wildlife of Alaska. Very enjoyable with beautiful pictures.
